Chopin Museum

EUR 6 per person

walking-warsawAt the Chopin Museum, you can learn all about the life of the musical genius and enjoy classical sounds in cosy music boxes. The museum is on our list of the Best Museums in Warsaw.

Short description of the exhibition

T he Chopin Museum comprehensively presents the life and artistic work of the Polish musical genius in a clear and exhaustive manner. The exhibition is divided into three areas:

Level 0: Warsaw period

Level 1: Paris period

Level -1: Frédéric Chopin’s work as a composer and pianist

A highlight is the Pleyel piano that belonged to Chopin during his final years (Level 1). Additionally, visitors can admire many personal belongings of the pianist, such as a golden watch gifted to him by Angelika Catalani. There’s also the opportunity to enjoy Chopin’s music in designated music boxes (Level 0).

What particularly appeals to us is the freedom to explore the museum in any order. Visitors can move around the museum freely.

We haven’t listed the museum among Warsaw’s best without reason. It has been designed very modernly and offers guests the chance to obtain precise and verified information about Chopin and Warsaw from the first half of the 19th century.

The building of the museum

T he museum palace itself is a real eye-catcher. The Ostrogski Palace from the second half of the 17th century features a beautiful terrace on the east side with a view of the Vistula Valley and an elegant reception courtyard with a round staircase leading to the main entrance on the west side.

During World War II, the palace suffered severe damage and was reconstructed true to the original plans by Tilman van Gameren.
