Warsaw Uprising Monument
per person
The Warsaw Uprising Monument commemorates the heroic struggle for freedom, dignity and independence, but also the brutal suppression and destruction of the city.
Description
The monument stands on the south wall of the Supreme Court in Poland and opposite the Field Cathedral. Although the monument is meant to commemorate the 1944 uprising, it was not erected until 1989. The communist governments were always negative about such a project.
The author of the project is Wincenty Kucma.
We have summarised why the monument had to wait so long for its realisation and other details about the uprising in a separate article.
