Short description
A brief description of the Old Town is a task of impossibility. The right word can actually only be: Fantastic! In summer, it glows in so many bright colours that some people think it’s just an artfully prepared film set. In winter, on the other hand (provided there is snow, which can no longer be guaranteed in Warsaw), it is covered in a gentle blanket of snow and invites all romantics for an evening stroll.
The Old Town is a Must-see. It is not for nothing that it is considered the symbol of a successful reconstruction, which took place in a record time of barely ten years (1947-1956). It was not easy to combine the medieval character with the modernity (of the fifties). But guests soon realise: this is a simple and unpretentious Old Town. Nothing special, some would say. No king´s stood here overnight, no important historical events took place. And nevertheless, everybody can feel the magic of this special place.
Our tips for the Old Town
Viewing terrace
On Castle Square is the bell tower of St. Anne’s Church, on the roof of which is a lookout point. From here you have the most beautiful view of the city.
