per person

boleslaw-prus-monument-in-warsawBoleslaw Prus is one of Poland’s most famous writers. His most renowned work was ‘Lalka’ (‘The Doll’), whose storyline unfolds along the Royal Route in Warsaw, just where the monument stands.

T he monument was unveiled on January 15, 1977.

The authors are Anna Kamienska-Lapinska in collaboration with Jerzy Jasionowski.

Boleslaw Prus worked at the Kurier Warszawski newspaper from 1875 to 1887, where he had his own column. The newspaper’s building no longer exists. It stood precisely where the monument stands today.

Essentially, Boleslaw Prus never left Warsaw. He was reluctant to travel and found everything he needed here. He was born in Hrubieszow near Lublin. He came to Warsaw at the age of 19 for his scientific work and stayed there forever.
